Superb hand-embroidered antique silk lei of Chinese origin (circa 1880-1900). This large textile piece presents a refined scene with two peacocks surrounded by chrysanthemum flowers, bamboo and butterflies, finely embroidered with polychrome silk threads. An elegant floral border frames the entire composition.

This silk strip was probably intended for decorative or apparel use, and bears witness to the exceptional craftsmanship of traditional Chinese embroidery in the late Qing dynasty. The reverse side of the piece reveals the quality of the craftsmanship.
