* Louis-Simon Boizot (1743-1809)
was a French neo-classical sculptor. He was a pupil of the sculptor Michel-Ange Slodtz when, in 1762, he won the Premier Prix de Rome. He then joined the École royale des élèves protégés. This success also enabled him to leave for Rome in 1765, where he stayed for five years at the Académie de France. From 1773, he exhibited at the Salon. He was appointed professor at the École des Beaux-Arts in 1805. Boizot worked mainly for the French capital, creating sculptural decorations for public buildings. However, Boizot gained notoriety when, in 1774, he succeeded the sculptor Falconet as head of the sculpture workshops at the Manufacture de Sèvres.
