Marine pistol, model 1837, first type
France - 19th century, July Monarchy period
Steel, wood, brass
Overall length: 29.5; Barrel length: 15 cm
Caliber: 15.2 mm

Barrel with three short sides, then round. Breechblock marked: "Mle 1837" before the screw.
Iron ramrod with reduced "nail head", mounted on curved toggle stirrup.
Rear lock signed "Manufacture Royale de Châtellerault". Round-bodied hammer with offset hammer and checkered crest. Percussion action.
Walnut frame with short barrel. Brass fittings, all stamped. Iron belt strap.
Brass cap stamped with a naval anchor and monogrammed "MB". Hoop ring on rotating piton.
