Gilded wood mantel mirror with a mercury glass with a glittering two-tone effect, and a rich decoration of palmettes, rosettes, and lion busts. Empire style, Charles X Restoration period - 19th century, circa 1820.
Our mirror is a rather rare format, large but not overly so, a model to place on a mantelpiece or a piece of furniture. Ideal for a bedroom or Parisian apartment where you want the qualities of a large mirror but don't have the space to install one. Our mirror is only 123cm high, giving an illusion of grandeur but remaining very easy to position.
Everything is original: the gilding is in good condition, cleaned by our gilder, the mercury glass with a glittering two-tone effect (the mercury is clearly visible on the bottom of the mirror, slightly blurred), and the original parquetry on the back.
