Our young Faun takes care of feeding a hungry young owl while two other little owls look on, waiting patiently for their turn.
The patina is exceptional
In Roman mythology, a Faun (from the Latin faunus) is a rustic country divinity. She is depicted with the body of a man, but the legs and horns of a goat. Fauns were later assimilated by the Romans to the satyrs of Greek mythology (horse-men).
A creature of the World of the Little People, the Faun lives mainly in cork oak forests. It feeds on fruit and roots, and is wont to say that humans are nasty beasts!
Poets claim that the voices of Fauns were often heard in the depths of the woods. Although demigods, fauns were not immortal, but only died after a very long existence.
Faunus is a deity who protects flocks, giving them fertility and defending them against wolves, hence the name "Lupercus" often attributed to him (from Lupus: "wolf"). He is also a prophetic god whose voice rings out in the silence of the night to pronounce oracles.
