Armchair called Voltaire from the stylistic period of the Restoration, produced at the end of the Charles X style, this seat dating from the 1830s has pretty characteristics of this period with in particular the swans' necks and the inlays of light wood decorations,
This most decorative blend of carpentry and cabinet work is constructed from a precious wood, here solid rosewood and also in beech veneered rosewood veneer for the belt rails, the "exotic" wood here is inlaid with light wood cut into decorations of foliage, branches, small flowers, rosette and also two birds on the front crosspiece of the seat, all underlined with fine nets.
The front feet are in turned wood, with rings and gadroons, the rear feet are slightly curved, the 4 feet are finished with brass shoes and castors,
The armrest consoles are in the shape of goosenecks finished with windings, the armrests are lined with large cuffs,
The backrest is slightly curved and inclined for comfort.
This seat has an old upholstery still in good condition, the whole is covered with an old blue velvet, colors very fashionable under the Restoration, which has some stains and wear.
The woods are in good condition, some small wear and lack of use.
