Beechwood child's shepherd's chair, standing on 4 tapered, fluted and curved legs.

The molded belts are joined by connecting dice carved with round lozenges.

The arm brackets, a continuation of the front legs, are also fluted and filleted.

The molded backrest forms a beautiful oval shape, giving this child's chair its elegance.

Stamped under the front crosspiece by Jean-Baptiste Boulard (1725-29 March 1789), received master on April 17, 1755.
Based on rue de Cléry, Boulard was attached to the service of the Garde-Meuble de la Couronne, for whom he worked from 1777.
A renowned joiner, he left a legacy of quality workmanship in both Louis XV and Louis XVI chairs. He seems to have been less productive in the Transition style.
Many of his works can be found in the museums of Chantilly, MAD, Louvre, Carnavalet and Versailles, as well as in the Wallace Collection, the Metroplitan Museum in New York and Lisbon.
