Hakkari Kilim - Anatolia.
Circa 1880.
200 x 156 cm
Magnificent kilim from Hakkari in the far east of Anatolia.
This piece is the work of the Kurdish majority population in this region.
The piece is woven in two sections joined and sewn together.
In the past, nomadic peoples only had small, lightweight and easily portable looms.
This kilim alone exhibits many of the characteristics of Kurdish weavings. First, its long braided fringes, two sections with a slight asymmetry, the patterns, of course, and also the abundant indigo blue.
The colors are exclusively natural and plant-based. The tones are very soft, in a masterful harmony. Great art!
Circa 1880
Very good condition, lovely patina
Dimensions: 200 x 156 cm
