PAIR OF PISTOLS with PERCUSSION BOX
    France
    19th century
    Marked ELG
Wood, ivory, silver, copper, damascus steel
    Total length : 19,5 cm
    Barrel length : 7,8 cm
    Caliber : 11 mm

Pair of pistols known as "à coffre" with percussion and forced bullet, respectively stamped "ELG" on the barrels. This mark appearing these three initials on star, registered in an oval, refers to the punch of the Bench of Proof of Liege. It is affixed on the guns with loading by the mouth, since 1893.
These last ones in steel damas are with sides and striped interior. The triggers concealed in the chests are activated as soon as the hammers are loaded. The chests are numbered 2880 and have an etched decoration of foliage. The stocks are made of ebony wood with an ivory ring. The caps are silver, and the doors are steel, both octagonal, decorated with two helmeted faces seen from the front.
