The original, the Gaddi Torso in marble (from the Hellenistic period, circa the 2nd century B.C.) is quite famous and thousands of tourists flock to the Uffizi Gallery in Florence every year to admire it. This muscular torso was probably that of a centaur but its posterity was different. Since the Renaissance and until today, generations of artists have drawn this bust, inserted it in new painted compositions or sculpted it. This torsion stretching the abdominal muscles and the belly creates a dramatic tension which did not escape the eye of the greatest artists and it is also what our copy in cast iron of the 19th century in perfect condition wanted to transmit.
