Gilt bronze violin-shaped clock, Louis XV period, 18th century.
    Model of Jean-Joseph de Saint-Germain (Paris 1719-1791)
It is decorated with large foliage, rockeries and flowering branches.
Model referenced in "the French clock" by Kjellberg p.112
After a careful examination with a magnifying glass of the model referenced in the Kjellberg, it would seem that it is indeed this clock which is illustrated (same chips at the winding holes and other concordant details.)
With its large enamelled dial with asymmetrical winding holes (small chips).
Movement in working order, however, requiring an overhaul.
Some bronzes have a bit of play and will need to be reattached.
In very good general condition, in its original juice and gilding.
