    KNIFE called Kukri
    Nepal, 19th century
    Steel, brown horn, wood, cloth, turquoise and silver
    Knife length: 34.5 cm
    Scabbard length: 33 cm
    (with base)

    Traditional dagger with single-edged, curved steel blade featuring two grooves running along two-thirds of the blade and a cut-out lug.
    The spindle is made of brown horn, ringed three times with incised rings.
    The scabbard consists of two wooden blades trimmed with silver inserts, cut and embossed with leaf friezes. One side is centered with purple velvet fabric, the other with leather. The chape is decorated with three zoomorphic figures punctuated with small turquoise cabochons - the third is a removable medallion portrait, mounted on a braided chain.
