    CASQUE DE SAPEURS-POMPIERS DE LA VILLE DE PARIS, model 1855 modified 1872, Third Republic.

    Entirely in brass, crest embossed with 11 gadroons, front plate embossed with the arms of the city of Paris framed by a branch of oak and a branch of laurel surmounted by a ribbon bearing the inscription "SAPEURS POMPIERS DE PARIS". Visor and helmet cover encircled by a folded brass ring straddling the outer edge, helmet cover stamped (5032). Chinstraps composed of a soft leather chinstrap sheathed in black waxed basane covered with a series of decreasing scales cut alternately into two and three festoons. Round rosettes with protruding moldings. Tubular pen-holder with square cross-section tapering downwards. Leather interior with eight wolf's teeth.
